With intelligent metering solutions for electricity, heating and water, a smart resource consumption is ensured benefiting both environment and users. Kamstrup is one of the companies that puts Aarhus and Central Denmark region on the map as world leading in innovative and sustainable solutions for supply systems.
Stilling near Skanderborg is home to one of the world’s leading producers of intelligent solutions for energy- and water metering. Kamstrup creates innovative and responsible supply systems for societies around the world. Especially in water technology, there is substantial growth potential. By replacing mechanic water meters with electric meters, the utility company is enabled to measure the consumption with accuracy. Through an improved visualisation of the consumption, leakages are detected early on, and causes for water waste are identified faster.
The smart solutions make water consumption more efficient, so that consumption and waste is reduced – all part of initiatives to optimise a more sustainable handling of water as a vital natural resource. Kamstrup has recently expanded the headquarters in Stilling with a new water centre of more than 10.000 square meters. The centre is where the business area in intelligent water supply systems is to be further developed. The potential development is also significant in relation to climate change. Intelligent technology can help tackle the future challenges such as water shortage, and ensure less water damage. In this way, an increased focus on the use of data generates new knowledge that can advance climate change adaptation.
“Intelligent metering creates opportunities for utility companies to optimise their business while at the same time reducing water waste. We are proud to contribute with solutions that can make a difference all over the world. We always say that one day, one billion people should be supplied with pure water from a supply network with intelligent solutions from Kamstrup”, says Per Trøjbo, Sr. Vice President of the water division.
Kamstrup has engaged in an innovative water technology knowledge centre named AquaGlobe, in a collaboration with local Skanderborg Supply Company, AVK and Grundfos. The knowledge and innovation centre opens in December 2017, and is to communicate knowledge about water technology and strengthen awareness about the water industry. AquaGlobe will be a display window across the industry, where the effect of technology can be experienced up close, and the water circulation can be experienced by new audiences through learning and play. “We expect to use AquaGlobe as a display window, when we have visiting delegations from at home and abroad. AquaGlobe is a possibility to present our solutions in a context, where the benefit of digitalisation of the supply network is demonstrated. We also believe that AquaGlobe can contribute in appealing to new qualified employees and make the water industry more exciting, not least for students”, Per Trøjbo explains.
