Kamstrup A/S is one of the world’s leading suppliers of intelligent solutions for measuring energy and water consumption. Kamstrup will be part of the theme “Energy and Consumption” at RISING Architecture Week. Here, Kamstrup will bring the challenges of global climate change into focus by asking: How can we design buildings and urban spaces of the future to tackle large amounts of water and periods without water? And how can we use buildings as batteries? Jesper Daugaard, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, explains:
“We participate at RISING because it gives us the opportunity to contribute to developing the cities of the future, with attention to optimising and utilising energy and water. We view the many advantages in using digital solutions and available data to make a smarter and more sustainable city. Smart cities are an important focus point for Kamstrup in Danmark, and we also work internationally with new projects, amongst other places, in Norway”.
Kamstrup are also rethinking their way of communicating the sustainable solutions, for instance with the LEGO-model Smartville, that visualises the digital networks in water supply. The model shows scenarios on how intelligent water gauges and sensors can be placed in the network. The gauges and sensors deliver data on consumption and thrust in the system.
“Smartville is an amazing way to explain the separate elements in smart cities. For instance, the gauges can detect a leakage or burst pipes, and this helps both plants and consumers economise. In this way, the gauges help to optimise the utilisation of resources”, Jesper Daugaard explains.
VOLA A/S design and manufacture classic fixtures in Horsens. To VOLA, Danish and international architects are some of their most important collaborators. Monthly, all year round, groups of international architects visit the factory in Horsens and attend conferences at VOLA Academy. In that connection, cultural events are part of the programme, Birthe Tofting, Director of International Sales, Marketing & HR in VOLA, explains:
“Often, we visit Aarhus City Hall, which like the very first VOLA fixtures, are designed by Arne Jacobsen. And of course, we visit ARoS, which is also a VOLA association, and we show the city’s several cultural events. We are very happy to participate in RISING Architecture Week, which offers our visiting architects an additional dimension professionally. We already know that we will bring architects and architectural journalists from the UK, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia and the USA to RISING Architecture Week. We are certain that they will gain an exciting professional experience, and we are looking forward to showing them all the things Aarhus has to offer. We started briefing international journalists and bloggers, who display a great interest in the programme of the conference, and in Aarhus as the European Capital of Culture”.
