An Aarhus 2017 Commission
Presented by Aarhus Symphony Orchestra Origins2017
Be enthralled and enraptured by the majestic The Creation by famed composer Joseph Haydn, performed under the baton of renowned conductor Andrew Nethsingha, featuring soloists, a large choir and the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in the wonderful Symphonic Hall, Aarhus.
The Creation oratorio, composed by Haydn in 1797-1798, is considered by many to be his masterpiece. The oratorio depicts and celebrates the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis from the Bible and in Milton’s Paradise Lost. A couple of weeks later, the same work is performed – but with a quite different perspective.
Using Haydn’s masterpiece as a model, high school choirs and soloists interpret the music while the story is told by Danish rapper Per Vers. This performance is rethought and conducted by Christian Baltzer. The last part of the trilogy is the premiere of a newly composed oratorio, EVOLUTION!
