Presented by Aarhus Cathedral, EU-Japan Fest, The Royal Danish Embassy in Japan and Aarhus 2017
In celebration of European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 and the 150th Anniversary of Japan-Denmark Diplomatic Relations we present the ’International Youth Concert 2017’ in Aarhus Cathedral. The concert is a unique cultural meeting between selected children and youth choirs from the two countries.
From Japan we welcome the choir LITTLE PHOENIX with 17 singers in the age between 6-18 years old. They will perform a wide repertoire of Japanese children’s songs and new pop songs. In line with Japanese tradition the songs will be accompanied by dance and storytelling hand movements.
From Denmark we present three local choirs conducted by Birgitte Næslund Madsen. The choirs are ‘Hjortshøj Pigekor’, ‘Junior EVE’ and ‘EVE’ all from the choir collaboration ‘Korsamarbejdet Aarhus Nord’.
The concert will be a beautiful combination of individual songs presented by the participating choirs and joined song learned from each others repertoire.
Each year the ’International Youth Concert 2017' is presented by EU-Japan Fest in close collaboration with selected European Capital of Cultures and the Japanese choir LITTLE PHOENIX has performed in both France, Lithuania, Wroclaw and San Sebastian.
