HeadQuarters invites you to an evening devoted to music and movement.
The evening begins with a workshop focusing on the fact that movement is music and music is movement. Emphasis is placed on creating a relaxed mood with room for laughter, self-irony, funny ideas and generally a space for everyone to participate whatever your prior relationship with music might be. We simply want to state that music should be experienced and heard with the body too.
After the workshop, there are two concerts with Royal Feet Factory and D/troit, as well as HQ's soul/funk/disco-DJ from 00.00 - 05.00.
We look forward to welcoming you to an evening at HQ as one of the hosts for the Aarhus 2017 final.
Programme:
7.00 pm: Workshop: Music is movement and movement is music
9.00 pm: Royal Feet Factory
10.30 pm: D/troit
00.00 - 05.00 am: HQ soul/funk/disco-DJ
Workshop
The workshop is based on the idea that movement is music and music is movement. You cannot separate the two. The participating audience in the workshop will move around in a setting where everyone is welcome and can participate. It is not about being good at moving your body, but only about feeling how the experience is lifted if you bring movement to the music. How we, if we pull together as a group, can lift both each other, the mood and together enjoy something unique in a social setting which might even poke our barriers a bit. But we promise that it is totally safe and only created to provide everyone with a good experience. It is a sensuous experience, but it is also an opportunity to meet other people in different ways than we are used to.
The music of the event, which the rhythmic music we know and engage in today is based on, makes it unthinkable to separate body from music. In many ways, we have frozen in a bodily frightened state today, in office chairs, at school desks and generally in many settings that put our brains first. But there lie oceans of releasing experiences in the connection of body and music and that is what we are going to explore at HQ on December 9th.
The music has its roots in African traditions, but we are not going to do African dances. Emphasis is placed on creating a relaxed mood with room for laughter, self-irony, funny ideas and generally a space for everyone to participate whatever your prior relationship with music might be. The workshop is for everyone no matter what background or earlier experience with music and movement you might have.
We hope that everyone who shows up and participates will meet the workshop open-mindedly, play along and have a good laugh. And that they might want to take the experience with them further into the evening when the two cool bands take the stage later.
Royal Feet Factory
Royal Feet Factory is a modern disco band, who with their catchy, original pop melodies and wild energy and stage shows lead the audience into a dance hall of sexy voices, glitter, bubbling dynamic music and a party revolution of outdated gender stereotypes. Your feet and hips will unavoidably be put into steamy motion and you will feel like you are in the company of the illegitimate child of Prince and Kiesza. Whether you are a man, a woman or something else is not important here. If you put on your most shiny dancing shoes, you can join in on this extravagant party with a flamboyant and androgynous pop name. With new collaborators, among others Thor Finland (Julias Moon, Rosa Lux) and Lasse Lyngbo (Vinnie Who, White Pony), a massive airplay on the radio station P4 and an impressing number of concerts, Royal Feet Factory has created a reputation as a band whose party you do not want to miss.

D/troit
Many concerts have been played, relationships lost and vinyl disks worn out before the boys from D/troit debuted with the EP ‘Do The Right Thing’ in 2015. D/troit was founded in 2013 where Toke, Klaus, Stefan, Mads and Jackie decided that despite their pale color they could still form a soul band. The five boys have been friends for many years – yes, some even since they in their teenage years played punk rock and hung around in the Youth House on Jagtvej. All the cock-and-bull-stories had already been told more than once – so why not follow their dream together and make that great soul band?
After a couple of years with hard work in the practice room and at the studio on Vesterbro and a trip to Austin, Texas where they recorded choir with a couple of untamable south state girls, the band D/troit was finally a reality. Before the debut was even released it was already playing on national radio. The sound of the pale, Danish soul-boys has later reached both radio shows and blogs in other countries as well. D/troit is an explosive mixture of soul, funk and love which has been particularly missed in Denmark.
