Presented by Aarhus Film Workshop
New Voices – Gellerup Film Workshop, launched in November 2015, provides an opportunity for young people between the ages of 18-30 from the area of Gellerup, Bispehaven and Aarhus West to learn to make films.
The project is initiated by Aarhus Film Workshop to encourage young people to own their stories, develop a sense of place and take these tales and observations into the world. In the workshop, the participants receive training in everything from script writing to camera work to help them craft their own narratives through filmmaking.
The leader of the workshop is film director Chadi Abdul-Karim, who previously filmed the 'Robert' nominated short film, Exit Neverland, in Gellerup with great help from the locals. Guest teachers also provide camera and editing courses as well as guidance in manuscript writing. There are no limits at Gellerup Film Workshop. The participants decide on the subject and whether it should be a short film, a music video, or something entirely different.
