Presented by Friends of The Coal Bridge
One of the most authentic cultural destinations in Aarhus is a disused bridge between the south harbour area and the city centre. Hovering 8 metres above the Aarhus waterfront, this 160-metres long bridge was used for transporting coal in industrial times.
The Coal Bridge has been neglected for years. Nevertheless, the site is a very important part of the cultural heritage of the city as an iconic marker for the neighbourhood’s identity. It is now the site and venue for one of the most anticipated cultural events in Aarhus between April and September.
The Coal Bridge Food Market introduces street food, produce and conviviality. Locals and visitors to the city will discover a relaxed and party atmosphere of music and chatter with the weekends filled with events and enterprises including flea markets and special pop-ups. The environment differs from restaurants and generic food wagons with innovative offerings served with a personal and creative touch. The market is constantly changing and we are excited about involving local actors, restaurants, foodies and start-ups as part of it.
