Presented by Aarhus 2017 and EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee
A special oasis where people can find peace and be in harmony with a natural setting crafted to provide sanctuary and contemplation. Our 101 Friendship Park, populated with varieties of Japanese tree species, is a living memorial to the 150 years of friendship between Denmark and Japan, and is planted as a project to commemorate in perpetuity our year as European Capital of Culture, during which we have invited many creative participants from Japan.
Situated near the new hospital facility in Aarhus, our 101 Friendship Park also provides a place of respite and emotional care for those needing a little solitary time and quiet space in their lives and minds. Inspired by the idea of the Japanese forest garden, planted by master gardener, Vagn Hansen, the park Aarhus 2017' gift to future generations, to inspire a sense of community, cooperation and mutual understanding.
The park opens 24th August at 4:30 pm, where the Japanese children's choir ’LITTLE PHOENIX’ will perform together with local children and youth choir ’EVE’ and ’Junior EVE’.
