Struer Municipality consists of Struer City and its surrounding towns and the peninsula Thyholm. Around 23,000 inhabitants live in the municipal, where you have a great opportunity to experience beautiful nature.
Go on a sailing tour around the Limfjord and experience Jegindø or Venø on a bike, you can go on a kayak trip to Kilen or go out end enjoy the nature in Klosterheden.
You can experience events and concerts at Gimsinghoved or in Folkets Hus. Visit the world-known Bang & Olufsen fabric factory or see the unique exhibition B&O at Struer Museum. You can go shopping in Struer or in Hvidbjerg.
Among the city’s cultural landmarks the Sarpsborg Girl at Struer Harbour is one to notice. The Norwegian town Sarpsborg gave the sculpture, made by the artist Kåre Orud, to Holstebro-Struer Harbour in 1948, in gratitude for food supplies to hungry Norwegians received from Struer right after the Second World War. Today the sculpture is a sign of the friendship between the two cities.
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the railroad in Struer in 2015, Struer received a new cultural landmark. Because of the strong ties of trains to Struer a picture of Locomotive Litra D was painted on a wall in a prominent place in the city.
Struer Municipality is part of European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017.
