As patron of the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017, HM Queen Margrethe II was presented with the first edition of the programme containing the many cultural activities planned for 2017.
Two children from Central Denmark Region, Anna and Magnus, had the great honour of presenting the gift of the printed programme to the Queen during a private audience at Amalienborg. Her Majesty immediately began to leaf through the almost 500-page cultural programme for Aarhus 2017.
"I am really looking forward to reading it, and I think the whole of Denmark can look forward to all the things that are going to happen," said Queen Margrethe at the presentation of the book.
During 2017, the Queen will attend a series of events connected with the Capital of Culture year, including the official opening in Aarhus on Saturday, 21 January, 2017.
"We are very proud of the Queen's support for the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017. It is a royal recognition that will resonate throughout Europe, and we are looking forward to welcoming the Queen, the whole of Denmark and foreign visitors to a whole range of wonderful cultural experiences in 2017", says Rebecca Matthews, CEO of European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017.
