Open Call - Lightlens

THE FUNNIEST DANCE PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR! 

At European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 we are currently creating the dance performance LIGHTLENS in close collaboration with the world-renowned choreographer Wayne McGregor. 

The open-air performance is staged on selected sites around ARoS, performed by 6-8 groups of dancers, consisting of both professional dancers and regular citizens from Aarhus. The audience is placed above, in ’Your Rainbow Panorama’ on top of ARoS, thus being able to enjoy a spectacular panoramic dance experience, spanning 360 degrees. 

Would you like to participate in the dancing? 

Right now, we are looking for 6-8 groups of dancers, each consisting of 20-30 persons, altogether representing an average cross section of Aarhusians. We do not require any previous dance experience – Everyone is welcome and everybody will be able to participate. All you need is the time and inclination to participate in an innovative, fantastic and challenging once-in-a-life-time experience.

Besides the practices, the performances will take place on 16th and 17th of June at 5.45 pm, 7 pm and 8.15 pm. 

The overall timeline for the practices looks as follows:  

Tuesday 6th June, from 4 - 6.30 pm CET or 7 - 9.30 pm CET

Wednesday 7th June, from 4 - 6.30 pm CET or 7 - 9.30 pm CET

Thursday 8th June, from 4 - 6.30 pm CET or 7 - 9.30 pm CET

Saturday, 10th June, from 10 am - 1 pm CET

Sunday, 11th June, from 10 am - 1 pm CET

Tuesday 13th June, from 4 - 6.30 pm CET or 7 - 9.30 pm CET

Wednesday 14th June, from 4 pm - 9 pm (onsite rehearsals)

Thursday 15th June, from 4 pm - 9 pm (onsite rehearsals)

Obviously, the rehearsal schedule will allow for school attendance, working hours, etc., enabling the individual dance groups to practice at times best suited to them.
