At the official opening of European Capital of Culture on Saturday 21. January, Aarhus Municipality and the Aarhus 2017 Fond, offer everyone to use the yellow buses in Aarhus for free between 14.00 to midnight.
The arrangement is a part of a plan to ensure a steady and effective flow of traffic at the opening. The official opening is expected to attract around 50.000 - 60.000 participants to the city centre.
The car-free zone in the city centre is there for both security and practical reasons and the organisers encourage both participants and guests to use public transport or cycling to get to and out of the city.
The city buses will run according to the regular Saturday schedule during the day. From 16 - 23, during the official opening, the schedule will change. You can see more information about the change in the timetables and route here at www.midttrafik.dk and www.rejseplanen.dk.
The free city bus service is also a good option for guests arriving by car. People can park their cars at carparks outside of the city centre and take the bus from there to the centre.
The offer includes all the yellow city buses from the bus company Aarhus Sporveje.
Information on traffic and parking on Saturday 21. January will be updated on www.aarhus2017.dk.
