European Capital of Culture 2017 Aarhus strengthens the organization further by employing experienced Ulla Svenningsen Lund as Volunteer Coordinator. She will ensure that Aarhus 2017s ambitious volunteer programme is developed and implemented.
In the past 15 years, Ulla Svenningsen Lund has been employed as Volunteer Coordinator for Smukfest in Skanderborg. There, she had the overall leadership of and responsibility for the development of the auxiliary organization of the music festival. This includes the responsibility for the internal structure, communications and building of systems that have made the handling of the 12,500 volunteers as smooth and professional as possible. Ulla Svenningsen Lund has served on the festival's management since 2003.
Ulla Svenningsen Lund is thrilled about the new challenges at Aarhus 2017:
"Aarhus 2017 is an incredibly exciting project with endless possibilities, where specifically the theme of 'Rethink' creates the opportunity to move our common perceptions of our society and way of life. The last 15 years in a successful organization driven by volunteers has given me lots of energy and inspiration to rethink volunteering at Aarhus 2017. I look forward to the fantastic challenge and know that in a few years I can proudly say that I helped fulfil the ambitions of Aarhus 2017," says Ulla Svenningsen Lund.
The volunteer programme will be developed in close collaboration with numerous local, national and international organizers of festivals, events and sports who work daily with volunteers. This collaboration aims at further strengthening the work with volunteers, thereby benefiting event organizers in the future. The volunteer programme must also develop new ways and models for exchanging volunteers on an international level.
The Tuborg Foundation has donated 2.7 million DKK for development of the volunteer programme. The costs of developing the programme are covered by revenue from sponsors and foundations.
