Public Movement is searching for a male performer to participate in the live performance with international artist collective Public Movement.
Public Movement is a performative research body that investigates and stages political actions in public spaces. The movement explores the political and aesthetic possibilities residing in a group of people acting together. It studies and creates public choreographies, forms of social order, overt and covert rituals. For the commission for Aarhus 2017 – European Capital of Culture, the group is looking for a male performer to join their team for a special choreography in one of Aarhus’s city squares.
Public Movement is searching fora local male performer, ideally with some experience in performance or dance (but not necessary). The performer should have the ability to carry heavy loads (other dancers!) and to perform for a long duration of time (3-4 consecutive hours).
The project will run from the 14-19th of August including rehearsals and shows. You will be paid a fee of 3750 DKK.
If you are interested in participating and available between 14-19. August, please send an email to adinachman3000@gmail.com with some info about your background and your interest in performance, a picture of yourself and any video links if available.
About the performance Public Movement – Rescue
Rescue is a staged rescue that takes place in a public space in Aarhus. It’s a performance set in a pile of ruins and the performers are divided into two groups: the lodged in the rubble and those who perform the movements of search and rescue.
Rescue starts at the aftermath, the scenario is unknown, what can be seen is the composition it creates, the togetherness it evokes and the duality of danger and compassion – it is an endless preparation drill for the inevitable disaster while it celebrates the intimacy that can be created between human bodies.
