In 2016, the beautiful Basque city of San Sebastián is European Capital of Culture. Tuesday to Thursday, a delegation from Aarhus and Central Denmark Region takes a study trip to the city. Managing Director Rebecca Matthews participates along with representatives from Aarhus Municipality, the region and the Board of The Aarhus 2017 Foundation.
To further strengthen the international network and discuss potential creative partnerships, Aarhus 2017 participates in a study trip to Spain. More precisely, the Basque city of San Sebastián.
The days in Spain have a rich programme. The delegation is meeting the Mayor of San Sebastián, and a meeting with the Secretariat of European Capital of Culture San Sebastián is also planned. This meeting will include presentations and strategic discussions with the Managing Director, the Programme Director, the Head of Communications and the Volunteer Coordinator.
Managing Director of Aarhus 2017 Rebecca Matthews looks forward to visiting the city in Northern Spain. Also because the study trip comes at a strategically significant time:
“We are in a phase right now where it is important that we take in all of the inspiration and experience offered. This is essential in our preparations to plan the best possible Cultural Capital in 2017. I also look forward to discuss some possible collaborations about Gastronomy and Films with our colleagues in San Sebastián,” says Rebecca Matthews.
The programme also includes meetings with the directors of the city’s International Film Festival and Jazz Festival.
