The Aarhus 2017 Foundation has just released its strategic business plan. The business plan describes the next phase of the Capital of Culture project from 2015-2018 with a focus on what the 2017-Secretariat will deliver and how it will do it.
In 2017 Aarhus will be European Capital of Culture. The project is supported by the Central Denmark Region and the 18 other municipalities in the region. This will be the most high-profile, politically and culturally significant project in Denmark in decades and represents a once-in-a-lifetime investment opportunity for Aarhus and the region.
Aarhus 2017 is a project many people, communities and ambitions are behind - across geography, demography and sectors. It is an opportunity to create value from culture as well as for culture, not only for the city, but also for the region and country, attracting trade, tourism and talent to our shores.
After the designation of Aarhus as European Capital of Culture in August 2012, the Aarhus 2017 Foundation has been driving the process from successful creative bid to active delivery phase, developing vision, finances and communications. And at the heart of this, our programme with thousands of events.
The strategic business plan contains different chapters that explain the Vision, Mission and Effects of the project, as well as the structure of the Programme; the Organization and its Stakeholders; Communications; Budget and Finance and Monitoring and Evaluation.
CEO of Aarhus 2017 Rebecca Matthews is pleased that the business plan is done and accessible to everyone with an interest in the Capital of Culture:
“In our strategic business plan we focus on what we will deliver and how we will do it. We set clear and measurable targets with the aim of making the year as Capital of Culture the start of a new era for our region in Europe,” says Rebecca Matthews and explains:
“Internally in our organization the business plan is a strategic guide for us to follow in order to create the most spectacular European Capital of Culture. Meanwhile, it is beneficial to the project that partners and audiences have the possibility to get an even greater insight in how far we already are and where we are going,” says Rebecca Matthews.
The strategic business plan is complemented by an internal action plan on how Aarhus 2017 will meet its annual goals. The business plan is updated each year.
