Studenterhus Aarhus celebrates the final of Aarhus 2017 - European Capital of Culture by creating a magical evening filled with music and joy so that we can say our goodbyes to 2017 in a proper fashion. Studenterhus Aarhus takes the stage at Officerspladsen after Aarhus Musikskole. The stage is nestled in between the Christmas Market at Ridehuset, the ice rink and Aros. We will light up the trees and offer a warm (or cold) drink, while you are enjoying the nordic sound of three upcoming Danish musical acts.
Line-up:
8 PM: Gurli Octavia
The local musician Gurli Octavia is an upcoming star on the New Folk music scene. She’s a Danish girl in her twenties like any other, defending herself against the rough edges of life with gorgeous folk songs, that would eventually soften any heart. With a voice as clear as spring water, with arrangements that are innovative and rich, she shows that the best of folk remains timeless.
9 PM: Penny Police
Penny Police is the alias of Copenhagen based singer and songwriter Marie Fjeldsted, who has impressed with her alternative songwriting and her airy voice. Penny Police keeps it simple and honest, gives room for both vulnerability and strength and with a rare proximity in both her songs and stage performance she reaches out to both old and young. She writes with her heart, full of integrity and full of potential.
10 PM: Mathias Winther
He is only 23 years old, but Mathias Winther has been a part of the Aarhus underground scene for several years. Winther is known for lively stage performance and honest lyrics. He finds his inspiration in Picasso’s 'Blue Period', cubic wordplay with the Danish language, 60’s sound and the spirit of freedom. He has recently released 'Sært Skarn' and afterwards the song 'Alt Er Stille Nu' got airplay at DR P3.
Nordic Echoes is part of the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 finale.
