Presented by Central Denmark Region and Aarhus 2017
De Originale is a tragicomic and life affirming documentary about a friendship between three grown men, outsiders in each their own way. We meet the author Lars Morell and his two friends, Boje and Anders. They are all out of sync with the times and their surrounding society, and sometimes even with themselves and each other. From this a different, odd, and thought-provoking story about Aarhus will take form. A story about friendship, madness, virtues, and values. And about how both full, funny, and frightful life can be when you fight against the current. In these days, where more and more, both young and old, experience isolation and loneliness, this movie challenges our notions of what a good life, normality, and the "right" values are. With its three odd "heroes", the movie provocatively asks: What can we learn from the originals?
The director, Stig Guldberg, who has followed the three and the ups and downs of their friendship since 2010, talks about the movie and its creation, introduces select snippets, and lays the foundation for a dialogue and debate with the audience about the questions that the movie poses. The film premiers in 2018.
