Presented by Central Denmark Region and Aarhus 2017
Meet the Palestinian film director and journalist Elia Ghorbiah.
Last year Elia was part of the production camp Empowering Storytellers, and created the film “After the Sunset” I collaboration with the Danish producer Matilde Nørgaard. Hear about her experiences from the production camp, and her perspective on the situation in Palestine and the challenges you face being a filmmaker in occupied Palestine.
Empowering Storytellers is a production camp in Ramallah for Danish and Palestinian filmmakers.
The camp takes place each year in August, where 5 filmmakers from Denmark meet up with 5 filmmakers from Palestine and create 5 documentary films in close collaboration.
The purpose of this camp is to create opportunities for Danish and Palestinian filmmakers to develop cooperation and Palestinian stories, develop their interest in film, and to meet new and different environments and cultures.
Empowering Storytellers is created by Aarhus Film Workshop in collaboration with Film:Lab Palestinian and The Danish House in Palestine, and is supported by Interkulturelt center.
The event will screen the five documentaries from this year’s workshop (approx.. 60 min.). Following the screening, Elia Ghorbia will join a conversation with Aage Rais, direktør of Aarhus Film Workshop.
