Presented by Central Denmark Region and Aarhus 2017
Presented by Emma Sullivan and Line Caught Film
In the north of Jutland, Denmark, in the middle of the Limfjord lies a small island - Fuur. Grave mounds from the Bronze and Viking ages interrupt otherwise untouched landscapes, and fossil rich cliffs leave traces of life some 55 million years old.
The people of Fuur are as extraordinary as their surroundings. John, a blind man, is the local guide and knows the island by memory and touch. He is an original ‘Furbo’, but the majority of the residents attracted to Fuur have come from elsewhere, opting to leave the hectic pace of cities to create their own unique take on contemporary Scandinavian life amidst some of the most breathtaking views in Denmark. To many, this is the authentic Danish experience.
Fuur is a portrait of place. Welcome to Fuur.
Aarhus 2017 and the Central Denmark Region present THE BIG LITTLE FILM FESTIVAL, a weekend of films from talented international and local filmmakers showcasing storytelling, documentary, animation, commercial communication and experimentation. The festival is a rolling programme of short formats telling some of the unique stories of place, examine Danish DNA in satirical fashion, demonstrate aesthetics of difference and methodologies of approach.
Line Caught Films and director Emma Sullivan will move beyond the usual and stereotypical to explore and tell surprising stories about what it means to be Scandinavian within a European Context and vice versa.
These short and mini Nordic documentaries will act as a portrait of community and an investigation of European commonalities. The documentaries from Line Caught Films are Fuur, The Keeper of Small Things and More Fair than the Sun. The documentaries form a rolling programme screened throughout the festival.
