WORLD PREMIERE
An Aarhus 2017 Commission with Art Centre Silkeborg Bad
Presented by Art Centre Silkeborg Bad
Internationally acclaimed artist, Callum Morton, devises a sculptural commission for the Art Centre Silkeborg Bad that draws on its rich history as a health facility, a refugee camp and a bunkered site of Nazi occupation. Morton creates a series of outdoor works that engage audiences in active, playful and open participation. Using special effects, surprise tactics and the ur-architecture of the theme park and the tableaux historie, Morton makes invisible history emerge and come alive in a series of uncanny hauntings and contemporary apparitions.
Known for his sculptural environments that play with architecture, scale, the amusement park aesthetic and the unheimlich flip, Morton has created major projects at the Biennale de Venezia, Biennale of Sydney, Istanbul Biennale and has been included in numerous international exhibitions in Europe, Asia, the USA and Australia.
